Celebrity fitness expert advises Wellmune WGP® for help staying ‘summertime’ fit all year long

You can’t stay in shape if you’re feeling sluggish. Celebrity fitness expert JJ Virgin recently shared her fitness ideas for women over 50 with readers of the Fit & Fab Living blog. We’re thrilled she considers Wellmune WGP® one of her secrets to maintaining a healthy, summer body year-round!

In cooler weather, with the camouflage of long pants and bulky sweaters, it’s easier to skip workouts and not feel as concerned about your shape. But if it’s a struggle to get swimsuit ready after your winter hibernation, JJ has some easy tips.

One of the biggest barriers to exercising (and eating right) is that blah feeling that accompanies so many of our seasonal colds and allergies. “Nothing derails a workout plan like getting a cold or flu!” says JJ.

Your immune system can be worn down by your fast-paced life. And then, colds come along and wipe you out. You’d rather watch TV from your couch than hit the gym. Banish this excuse! Wellmune primes your immune system to promote healthy, natural energy levels. Wellmune is also clinically proven to strengthen your immune system to help you stay healthy.

By staying active during these colder months, when spring returns you’ll be ready to just throw on your swimsuit and hit the beach.

Nutraceutical Business & Technology, Nov/Dec 2011

Check out the latest issue of Nutraceutical Business & Technology for an article on how Wellmune WGP may change the way athletes, trainers and coaches approach supplementation. Substantial research demonstrates that high intensity exercise weakens the immune system.  If you’re not well, you cannot achieve training or performance goals.  Clinical studies in marathon runners and cyclists in a heat stress lab showed that Wellmune WGP reduced the incidence of upper respiratory tract infection symptoms and activated protective immune responses that maintain health.  The results have sports nutrition implications for both recreational and elite athletes.

Three supplements that may help you have a safer workout

If you’re dedicated to a rigorous training schedule you’ve probably thought about supplements that could increase your stamina or help build muscle. But one of the easiest ways to get thrown off your game is to miss a workout due to injury or illness. Here are three supplements that may help you have a safer, and perhaps even more effective, workout.

  1. L-theanine to stay focused. It’s easy for your mind to wander as you exercise. Unless you’re exercising in a bubble, there’s always a chance that someone or something will injure you – that clumsy person in your Zumba class or an inattentive driver as you jog through your neighborhood. Research has found that L-theanine helps you stay focused. It may also help you pay attention to proper form. L-theanine may also indirectly help improve your athletic performance since it promotes quality sleep, which helps your body recover faster.
  2. Wellmune WGP to mobilize your immune system. Did you know that strenuous physical activity leaves you with a two to six hour window of diminished immune response? At these times, your body is more susceptible to germs. This is especially troubling if you hit the club to work out because gyms and locker rooms are notorious hideouts for germs. Clinical research has shown that recreational athletes who took Wellmune WGP had higher concentrations of certain immune system markers (versus a placebo) immediately before and after their exercise test, and two hours after the test.
  3. Lycopene to help protect your skin.  Sun protection is crucial if you exercise outdoors. While slathering on the sunscreen is important, you could also benefit from sunscreen from the inside out. UV exposure decreases antioxidants in the skin and blood.  Evidence shows that once lycopene builds up in your body, it may protect your skin from UVA and UVB damage. It may not feel as sunny in the winter but the rays can be damaging year-round, so don’t skimp on sun protection.

Meeting your fitness goals can be challenging but these three supplements are an easy way to help improve your workouts and your health. Prime yourself now to avoid that blah feeling that keeps you stuck to the couch later.
